Care Partner Mobile App

The Care Partner mobile app empowers families and friends with tools and resources to support independence for loved ones living with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI).

As a UX Researcher and Designer, I delivered two end-to-end features for the application and collaborated with other Designers on additional feature development throughout the product lifecycle.

Feature One: Empowering Care Partners Through the "Discover" Learning Hub

The challenges of caring for someone with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) are multifaceted, impacting both emotional well-being and day-to-day activities. As Care Partners play a pivotal role in this journey, we created a section that was designed as a sanctuary of knowledge at their fingertips they can always rely on.

What Makes the "Discover" Feature So Unique? 📚

  • Curated Courses and Insightful Articles: Developed in collaboration with the in-house content team, each course and article is handpicked to provide care partners with actionable advice and deep insights.

  • Personal Progress Tracker: With user-friendly progress indicators, care partners can understand where they stand in each course chapter, keeping them motivated and focused.

  • Bookmarking, Simplified: Care Partners can save articles and courses separately for quick and easy access later, so they never lose sight of what matters to them. The content becomes their resources library!

Feature Two: Reminiscence Therapy—A Collaborative Journey Through Memories

The power of memory is an essential tool in caring for loved ones with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI). The product team wanted to encourage Care Partners to directly contribute to the patient's therapeutic experience, from their mobile app, hence we designed a feature to enable care partners to upload special moments that would be then displayed on the patient; ‘s iPad application during the therapy session.

Why This Feature Matters ✨

  1. Enhanced Emotional Well-being: Reminiscence Therapy has been shown to stir positive emotions in MCI patients. Personalizing this experience with family photos amplifies its impact, making the therapy session far more engaging and meaningful.

  2. Two-Way Participation: This feature opens the door for Care Partners to be proactive contributors to their loved one's therapy, strengthening the emotional bond between you and the patient.

Calendar & Timeline

Managing the care of a loved one with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI) requires care coordination and constant communication. Developed in collaboration with Mayo Clinic’s HABIT program the Calendar feature helps care partners create events and keep the patient informed about their schedule.

The Timeline ensures that care partners are always a click away from touching base with their loved ones, making emotional and logistical coordination smoother than ever.
